How to read one row
The ledger treats a size name as a sorting label, not a measurement system. MIYUKI describes millimeter values as approximate. TOHO describes its own hole and shape features. PRECIOSA maintains a document index with catalogs, product cards, certificates, and resistance documents. Those are useful lanes precisely because they do not claim to be one universal table.
A source column is part of the value. When a page tells you who published a number, which family it belongs to, and when it was checked, you can make a later substitution without losing the original reasoning. The ledger stays small so every row can keep its scope visible.
Signature resource
The Bead Spec Ledger
Separate source lanes keep a publisher's approximate value from becoming a false conversion promise.
Source lanes
MIYUKI, TOHO, and PRECIOSA remain separate records. The shelf grows only when source and scope are clear.
| Publisher | Family | Published cue | Bench consequence | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MIYUKI | Seed bead families | Approximate size and shape reference | Keep family and unit attached | MIYUKI size table |
| MIYUKI | Color and finish | Durability lookup with caution codes | Treat warnings as conditions | MIYUKI durability |
| TOHO | Glass bead shapes | Shape and hole-profile descriptions | Plan passes around the form | TOHO shapes |
| PRECIOSA | Seed beads and shapes | Catalogs, cards, certificates, resistance | Check document scope and date | PRECIOSA downloads |
Values remain approximate or source-specific where the publisher says so.
Bench checklist
Before you commit
- Identify the maker and exact family before reading a size label.
- Keep approximate values marked as approximate.
- Record the document or lookup date.
- Test the actual lot when alignment or thread passes matter.
Keep the caveat
What this page leaves visible
A familiar label can organize a question, but it cannot prove that two materials are interchangeable. Keep the publisher's caveat attached and leave unknowns visible.
